Welcome to our September Newsletter I just happen to love inspiration and oracle card decks – I think I have upwards of 15 different packs. These days, I’ll choose a deck from the shelf and pull a card on a whim – for a spark of inspiration, uplift, centring, support or guidance. I love the little sparkle in the eye of friends and visitors when they discover my shelf of cards too, and they pick a deck that appeals and dwell awhile with the cards.
People use these cards in all sorts of different ways – as their inclination, need or impulse guides them – and it’s wonderful to see the different responses. There’s been a ‘pish tosh’ or two over the years too – and that’s fine as well.
So – I was delighted to find SoulCollage®. I had the opportunity to spend half a day with Simone de Haas, learning to make my own personal deck of wisdom cards and then learning to consult them.
There were perhaps 12 or 15 of us and we learnt to create our own beautiful cards by selecting images, cutting them out and pasting them onto pieces of blank card.
A particular joy of the workshop was the reflective peace that settled over us as we quietly worked, each on our own separate cards, but side by side and together. Reflective moments and conversations flowed in a lovely natural rhythm as participants felt gently moved to share or question. After a time Simone drew us together in a group to demonstrate some ways of reading the cards and in pairs and small groups we used our own cards to process and reflect.
Each SoulCollage® card you make reflects a facet of your Self and as you make more cards the evolving deck will reflects the many aspects, the extraordinary panorama which is ‘you’ as a whole Being - your SoulCollage®. http://www.cre8tivecatalyst.com.au
Of course, I did not make a whole deck in just half a day, but the process is underway and I can return to it anytime I feel a creative and reflective moment. So, one by one, my own SoulCollage® deck is growing to join the many on the shelf.
SoulCollage® was, and is, a delightful experience for me. If you get the chance to attend a SoulCollage® workshop, I can recommend it as a nourishing way to spend a day. Best of all, get a group of friends together and Simone will tailor a workshop just for you – what a wonderful way to spend time with friends. Remember Who You Are This has come up again and again when working with clients – and it did again in the last couple of weeks. Do You Remember Who You Are?
We are so busy doing busy-ness in the world, so busy doing what we think other people want us to Be. (And for sure, sometimes those other people really do want us to be a certain thing – and they make that clear in subtle and not-so-subtle ways). We forget who we are – who we want us to BE. I asked a client: “Who would you be if you didn’t have to be anything for anyone else” And the answers were not a surprise to her – she knows the parts of herself that she has closed down in order to gain the approval of friends, family, colleagues. And she knows too, that some of those people she doesn’t even like or respect – so why was she worried about their approval? Well, that’s another whole story – but for now – have the courage to ask yourself: Notice I ask Who do I BE - not what do I DO - explore the difference, for example I might BE creative and what I DO is ...(fill in your blank, paint, dance, sing ...). I might BE spiritual and how I DO that is ....
This takes courage – it really does! |
